Yellowstone National Park

Certainly, a person can not travel to Wyoming and not visit Yellowstone National Park. From our guidebook "It was the first national park in the world and for centuries people have been drawn to its beautiful and unusual geological features and wildlife. With more than 10,000 geothermal features- more than the rest of the world combined!- Yellowstone is considered a major geologic "hot spot". Superheated magma just a few miles below the surface has molded the landscape and created geysers, hot springs, volcanoes, and boiling rivers."
Overlooking Lake Yellowstone which I think is in an old volcano "pit" for lack of a better word
A wild Buffalo was wondering by the road so genius me jumps out with my yummy looking 2 year old to get a picture with it. She was more interested in her new water bottle.
Passing over the continental divide (we actually did several times) at an elevation of 8262 feet- Denver "The Mile High City" sits at around 5500 feet.
No visit to Yellowstone is complete without a stop at Old Faithful Geyser. In my opinion, it wasn't the biggest or most spectacular geyser in the park, but it was dramatic and faithful! When we arrived we could see it rising in the distance, and after we parked it was expected to erupt again at 2:06 pm, give or take 10 minutes. We settled in to watch (with the other hundreds of people) and she went off at 2:08pm.
I wanted a good photo and seat, so I was actually sitting on the front of the pavilion with my feet on the ground. Then I noticed the sign that says "DANGER- Thermal Area!" so I snapped a pic with my toes and the sign. Boy, I am such a dare devil ;). But then later, no joke, we saw a sign that said over a dozen people had been scalded to death and over a 100 others severely burned from walking off the built up path. I didn't take it so lightly after that!
Brent and I's favorite- the midway geyser basin and turquoise pool, which temps hover at near boiling at all times.

A golden eagle in her Arie or nest (My madden name is Eagle and our family business is Arie Inc.) so of course we loved seeing her just as we were leaving the park!
