Dance Recital Day

To celebrate our dance recital day, Sydney and I had the other girls and their moms over for lunch. It was really laid back and I think the girls all had a good time. We had a few pictures of them from the year, bubbles and adorable bag tags (Please see my friend Dayle if you need to order some! She is amazing!) as party favors on the table when they walked in.
And look what Aunt Erin ordered?!?! Balloons! She was in Florida and had to miss the little recital, but was so thoughtful and ordered Sydney balloons for good luck. When she said balloons, she was not being exactly honest. When we went to pick them up, there were 25 balloons in 2 huge bunches! We used them all over the house and on the mailbox during the party. Thank you Erin for making Sydney feel so special!
We kept trying to get all our little dancers to get together for a picture, but it never did happen. Please notice that in every picture they are all going and playing in a different direction! We had Bella Dancerella playing in the den to dance to, but mostly they playing in the playroom with the kitchen stuff.

Yummy- fruit, goldfish, tortilla roll ups and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with cookies and another fruit dessert!

Sweet friends!
One of the moms brought sweet books about Recital Day and these twirl dance ribbons- they were a hit to say the least. We had a minor wardrobe malfunction 10 minutes before everyone was supposed to get here. Aunt Teeny got Sydney an awesome smocked dress with red head ballerinas on it; however, when I put it on it showed her ENTIRE chest because it was a little big. Thank you Aunt Teeny and I promise we will wear it soon!!!
OK, let me take a moment to remind everyone that I am hopefully NOT a crazy mom who put her 2 year old in dance just to dress her up. Sydney has the best time dancing and learning, and our recital was very laid back and fun. My goals this year for dance were: to learn turn taking, to listen to a teacher and follow directions, to celebrate when others do well, and to have fun. We accomplished all those and many more! I know that she felt so special getting to dress up and dance on stage with her grandparents watching! Her face was lit up all night long! We didn't have a dress rehearsal, so when we got there we looked for our spot on stage and then changed into our costumes and played with our friends until their turn came.
This is Mrs. Shelly- owner and fabulous dance teacher :)

Finding our spot on stage in costume :). Please look at that little booty!

OK- I admit- this picture is a little "Toddlers & Tierras"

Waiting in the wings they figured out if they stomped their feet in the tap shoes it made tons of noise.

OK, they were up first after the company dancers opening number and they all went right out on stage. Paisley got a little stage fright though, and ended up dancing on the wings with Mrs. Shelly.
I certainly didn't expect it, but Sydney did her dance to the music. It helped that Mrs. Merrit was right in the wing dancing with her. I love this picture- all 3 girls are doing moves that were in the dance, just kind of all at the same time :)

Yay! They did it! All the parents and grandparents clapped and then all the recreational dancers got their very own trophy!!!
