Gymnastics Skill Review 2013

 Be still my HEART!!!!
I am so proud of these two little girls.  They both started gymnastics in August and have fallen in love with the sport.  Both Sydney and Kate have worked really hard at home (aka every time I turn around they are practicing somewhere in the house near breakable things or stairs!) and in the gym to master their current skill level check list.  Tonight was their Skill Review for their adoring fans (aka their blood relatives and Aunt Erin).  OK, enough with the nostalgia- let's see the pictures :).

 Group stretch and warm up

They both got medals and got to stand on the winners podium

Whew- stuck her beam routine and landing.  Her balance has improved so much!  This is my girl who until recently still had to sit down to put on underwear because she couldn't balance on one foot for long!
"vault" landing which at this level is running down and jumping on a springboard and sticking the landing :)
 And her favorite- floor
She has worked especially hard on getting her back bend because her upper body strength was lacking when she started!

Here are several of Kate showing her skills!!!  Brent and I have called her Baby Ninja for a long time because she has amazing balance and strength for someone so small.  And she can get into and out of places (aka her bed and room when she is supposed to be sleeping mostly!).

Baby Cakes is a natural on the bars for some reason.  Oh, I know, all those nights practicing climbing out of her crib are paying off!

Sincerely, it was a very special night and I am thankful that both Sydney and Kate enjoy learning and growing and pushing themselves in a new sport!  Thanks to Coach Heidi who has been so patient with them both all year, and thanks to our "adoring fans" who came to watch!!
