Wild at Heart

Daddy got Sydney golf clubs for Valentines Day

And Mom got her a movie, Fancy Nancy books and her very own Where the Wild Things Are t-shirt. I actually have a retro-looking one and every time I wear it she goes crazy and wants to wear mine. After church we made pink cupcakes in her princess "stove" that Erin got her, and she wanted to practice for her birthday :). 3 candles already???????? Where has the time gone?

Snow Days...

Well, I can honestly say we were VERY surprised to have 3 snow days this week!!! Brent flew out to Orlando early Monday morning (he just barely made it out before they canceled all flights) and he text me at 4:45am to say "Don't drive. The roads are covered in SNOW!". What!?!?!?! Sydney and I loved (OK mostly loved) being stuck at home for 3 days but we did miss Daddy's help! We hung out with Misty-
Drank hot chocolate-
And I even filled the water table with rice and let her go to town. Please notice the mess it has made all over my house!

I have loved being snowed in with my baby girl, but I have been really exhausted. We spent all last weekend back in Fayetteville and were able to have my sweet grandfathers funeral. Thank you sincerely for the texts, emails, phone calls, meals, flowers and plants, cards in the mail- they have ALL been so appreciated!!!!!!! I guess being out of town for back to back weekends, along with the death of a loved one, Brent being gone, oh yeah, and being PREGNANT has taken its toll!!!! I am only 7 weeks along, but I think most of my little blogging community has already heard the great news. We are thrilled and I think I am due around October 1st! Of course we covet your prayers as you think of us and the new baby. Hope everyone else got some much needed rest and play time with their loved ones this week too!!!

The future of American Swimming :)

Sydney started swim lessons this afternoon with Safety Before Skill Swim School, which focuses on water safety along with swimming skills. They are very hard core, hence the swim cap requirement. :) They rent the indoor pool at a scuba diving shop, so it was a warm 86 degrees in the water (or so they said). I was impressed by how much she learned today: getting in and out of the pool without a ladder or steps, moving along the side of the pool holding the wall, swimming and reaching to the wall, floating, kicking and scooping her hands, and going under holding her breath. Most importantly, she loved it and this will hopefully make us feel a little safer around the pool and lake.

Snowy Weekend

My sweet and wonderful grandfather passed away last week, and we made every effort to have his service on Saturday. Unfortunately, the weather didn't agree, and we have rescheduled his service for next Saturday. We have had a long weekend, but did enjoy seeing 7 inches of snow fall in Northwest Arkansas.

Dum Dum Da Dum... Here Comes the Bride... and 2 really cute flower girls

Ms. Kaylee has asked Lucy James and Sydney to be flower girls in her May wedding, and we had so much fun on Monday trying on flower girl dresses. Well, first we had to play with a few Disney toys before we hit gold.
Waiting to see what Princess dress they get to try on :)
The big winner- with a red sash to match the bridesmaid dresses. They are really pretty!

Hum, we might need to work on our pose before the big day. Thanks again Ms. Kaylee and Blake for including us in your beautiful big day!!!

Pinkalicious Cupcakes

This is very sweet. Santa and Aunt Teeny got Sydney Pinkalicious for Christmas and it is quickly becoming our new favorite bedtime story. While we were at Jacksons, Brent went to the store and planned a fun afternoon for he and Sydney. They made pink cupcakes all by themselves. It was so sweet, he even moved her little table into the kitchen so she could help ice them. That lasted for 2 cupcakes before she wanted to stop and eat one. Even funnier, after she ate it, she said "Oh no! I'm pink!" just like the book.
Another funny little story from today, Corbin/Aunt Teeny sent Sydney this New Orleans Saints shirt. So, we were watching the Saints game and I was explaining that this was Aunt Teeny's favorite team, blah blah. So Reggie Bush scored, and I said "Wonder if Kim Kardashian is there? Oh look! There she is!" and Sydney looked up and said "There's Aunt Teeny!" Tee hee hee!
Night night sweet Sydney, I mean Pinkalicious! We love you!!!

Playdate with Jackson

Wow- a playdate at a boys house is pretty fun! A Thomas tent and train table, golf clubs, tee ball sets, and a soccer ball were big hits this morning. I can't believe the "twins" are about to be 3!!! Jackson and Sydney were due 2 weeks apart and Melissa and I did Aqua Moms together, but when I walked into the hospital to be induced, Jackson's family was in the waiting room! They are 12 hours apart, and were each others first friend (after all, they shared the nursery!) Melissa made a yummy lunch, and we worked on planning our birthday party- we are having a joint party this year. One hint- Brian Kinder concert :).

These are a few of my favorite things...

Singing and dancing
Imagination Movers
Cutting with big girl scissors, coloring, "writing", and doing "peech" as she says. Every day this week she has asked to "do some 'peech Mommy". Me: "Baby, remember to put your snake sound on it." Sydney: "Oh yeah, ssssspeech please." :) I have 2 kids her in class for therapy and she is doing a good job not being jealous of me working with them, but is obviously curious about what we go and play.

Wanting to be a big girl!

Well, we have an interesting problem at our house. Sydney wants SO MUCH to be a big girl. We hear "I do it!!!" several times a day, especially about getting dressed and putting on her socks and shoes. She is refusing to sit in a booster seat at the table and I am afraid we might never ride in a stroller again! And she is wanting to do just what I do every day, including cook, clean, wear makeup, put on deodorant, paint her toe nails, and roll her hair. Whew- what a balance to try and strike between letting her be independent and try to help her when she needs it. One funny thing though, Erin's parents borrowed my exer-saucer for her niece. So they returned it randomly this weekend, and when Sydney walked downstairs from her nap that day she freaked out. She has been wanting to sit in it and "play" just like she did when she was a baby. She posed by it when I told her I wanted to take her picture in her rollers. I told her "We will have to find a place to keep it and maybe we'll have another baby around here to play in it." She thought about it for a second and said "Yeah, I want another baby. I want Baby Jesus." I guess she has decided if we have to have another baby around here, let's aim high!!! :)

Definition of vacation- leisure time away from work devoted to rest or pleasure

What a blessing to the soul a "Stay-cation" can be!!! We have stayed in our jammies most of the week and enjoyed NOT having plans or to-do lists. I have cooked, cleaned, organized, and most importantly, spent time with my favorite 2 year old!!! My solution this week to take a shower without interruption: put her doll house in the middle of my bed and offer a piece of gum as a bribe to stay on the bed until I get out.
Manicures and Music
She picked out a few doll house furniture pieces with her Christmas money and is so proud.

Oh, and we have worked in a couple of yummy restaurant stops over the Christmas break also. We went on a lunch date to Cracker Barrel after her ENT appointment last week and it was so fun sitting across the table from my little lady. She reminded me to bless the food (while I had my first bite in my mouth!), put her napkin in her lap, and ate so quietly and calmly like a big girl! SLOW DOWN GROWING MY LOVE!!!! Thank you for a wonderful week at home!
